Bearden Middle School Lip Sync

Bearden Middle School does a Lip Sync contest/concert every year and of course, the teachers are a part of it!  The kids come up with songs they love and create really, really cute routines to go with the songs, where they...lip sync!!!!  Last year, the teacher group did Thriller!  I will post pictures and hopefully, a video, soon!  Last year was my first year to be a part of it and I loved it!  I think I just love the stage!  Oh, to go back to middle school and high school!  But...this year, we did Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)!  It was so much fun!  If you have seen the SNL skit with Justin Timberlake and Beyonce then you will have an idea of what we did!  Carter was the "director" and Ms. Young (6th grade principal) was Beyonce!  We had a blast!  I was, as you can see, a back up dancer!  I promise to post the video soon!  I just have to figure out how to do it first!

Oh my!

This blogging stuff confuses me!  I didn't mean for two slideshows of the same pictures to show up on my blog!  But, now I can't figure out how to get one of them off!  Sorry guys!  I guess you get to watch the cookout twice!  And I didn't mean for that to be the title of the slideshow!  So confusing to me!  I'm currently on Spring Break, so maybe I can fix and improve everything this week!  I am currently in Charleston, S.C.!  I love it here!  I got to spend the day at the beach yesterday and I am waiting to go shopping today!  Carter and Gingi came with me and we are staying with my brother!  Gingi loved the beach yesterday!   She ran all over the place, chased every bird that she could, but never got in the water.  She would get very close to it and when a wave would come in, she would run!  We got to take her to the Surf Bar to eat, which is so cool to take your puppy to lunch!  She was a rock star!  People would stop us to talk to her and play with her...it was crazy!  We were walking back from the beach and every single person we would pass, had to stop us and ask what kind of dog she was and play with her!  Sean has now decided he needs one of her!  I'll post pictures later and add more!  Spring Break is great!  It makes the crazy 8th graders worth it!

Carter and I had a cookout this past Saturday! It was so much fun to get all our friends together to hang out for a couple of hours.  Gingi had a blast with all the kids!  Her and Karley ran all around the house chasing each other!  We ate lots of food and spent lots of hours together!  Thanks to everyone that came!  We'll do it again soon!

So I have to share a little bit of my brother with you!  We're four years apart so we weren't super close growing up.  I can remember many fights with him in our younger years.  He once threw my Cabbage Patch Kid at me and it busted my bottom lip.  We were wrestling one day and he knocked one of my teeth out.  I was his "ugly assistant"when he went through his magic phase...never the lovely, cute, beautiful one!  He forced me to eat chips that had been in the grass in front of all the neighborhood boys!  He wrote his name in crayon on the wall when I wasn't old enough to get out of the crib and told Mom that I had done it.  He poked all kinds of holes in Mom's Mary Kay make-up and told her that I had done it!  It took lots of tears to convince her that I had not done it!  Granted...I was not always innocent!  There was the time that I "accidently" spit gum in his hair that had to be taken out using peanut butter.  I've been told that there were many of fights that I would start, but be the first to cry so that he would get in trouble.  He did have his sweeter side or maybe this side should be called the tolerant side!  When I was too old to sleep in Mom and Dad's bed after I had a nightmare, he let me sleep in his bed, as long as I didn't wake him up.  I did learn after the first time that I needed to bring my own blanket...he was a blanket hog!!!!  He would allow me to play with him and his friends, but just not for too long.  But, all that aside, my brother and I have been through a lot together over the last couple of years.  It's funny how God allows things to happen to two people at the same time and how much strength two people can gain from each other.  We both ended up getting divorced the exact same month and were able to lean on each other through the last year.  I think my brother is an amazing person!  I love hanging out with him and miss him all the time!  He lives in Charleston, S.C. so I don't see him that much, but when I do we spend so much time talking and just hanging with each other!  I feel blessed to have him as a brother and know that no matter what he would be there for me...whatever I'm going through.  He works as a graphic arts designer for the Museum of Charleston and loves art and poetry and on good days plays in a band!  He's...as cliche as it is...one of a kind and I love that I get to call him mine!!!

Gingi!!!!

About a year ago Gingi entered my life!  I wasn't looking for a new puppy, although I seriously missed my old puppy.  I went to the pound with Amanda, a girl I teach with, because she wanted to get her boys a dog.  A cute, cute, little, fluffy, brown pomeranian was sitting in a crate pawing at me as I walked by.  I talked to this little puppy and played with it for a few minutes before the worker let me know that she was already promised to another family.  I thought that this little brown puppy, that resembled a bear more than a puppy, was so cute, but knew that there was no chance of getting her....so I looked at a black cocker spaniel.  I held the black cocker spaniel who whined as I held it and was secretly wishing that the little brown pomeranian was available. I left the pound with no new puppy and wasn't really impressed with the cocker spaniel.  I went home and thought about it and in my thinking realized how much puppies add to a life.  My other puppy got me through some rough times and although I no longer have her, I am grateful that I did.  I wanted a knew puppy to share my life with...I went back to the pound the next day.  And wouldn't you know....there is that brown pomeranian!  I did not get my hopes up, as I was sure that she was still promised to another family, and inquired about her.  I was told that yesterday's family did not show up, but that she was promised to yet another family.  I asked the worker how long they would hold her for the other family because I would take her right now...please keep in mind I had not held her at all!  The worker went to talk to her manager and came back to tell me that she would try to contact the other family and see when they planned on picking up this puppy.  I waited anxiously as she talked to the family and was informed that they would not be able to pick her up until tomorrow, which meant that because I was there today and willing to take her right away that....I got her!!!!!  They let me hold her while I made sure that I wanted her...I called my mom...I called Carter...I needed their input.  They both said I should go for it.  I did!  I paid for, who was then Boo Bear, and went with Amanda to her son's baseball game.  Boo Bear and I enjoyed the game and then went to Pet Smart to load up on goodies.  We then made our way to Carter's house.  Carter wasn't home yet...he was in Athens at his nephews baseball game.  I didn't know if this cute puppy was housebroken or trained or anything.  I get to Carter's and Boo Bear pees outside and curls up on the couch for a nap.  While she was napping, I had that panicky thought of...Oh no...what did I do?  Can I keep up with a new puppy?  Needless to say....she was perfect!  You will hear many, many stories about Gingi...Boo Bear did not stay, although it did become a nickname!  She is such a sweet, sweet puppy!  She has added so much to my life and also to Carter's.  We enjoy her immensely and can't imagine not having her around!  Enjoy some of her pictures and get ready for many, many more!
